WIOA WEDNESDAY: Improving Statewide Data Integration, Sharing, and Use
3:00 PM ~ 4:00 PM ET
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) relies on robust state workforce and education systems data to measure performance. Are you engaged with the workforce system, employers/industry, and higher education to develop data systems that respond to workforce needs? This presentation will highlight the diverse approaches that three states are undertaking to create integrated data systems through partnerships between community colleges and the workforce system.
WIOA encourages the use of quality workforce and education data to inform the training and education decisions of job seekers and the targeting of federal investments.
Yet, developing the systems to collect, share, and use reliable data from multiple sources—as well as assembling the partnerships needed to implement such systems—can be challenging. Representatives from Massachusetts, Missouri, and Kansas have pursued very different strategies for improving statewide data integration and use.
The presenters have worked collaboratively as community colleges and workforce partners to build systems that provide education and workforce entities, as well as the public, with valuable information about training outcomes. In this webinar the presenters will discuss the types and sources of data that they are collecting, their data collection methods, and the ways (both intended and unintended) in which they are using this data.
The presenters also will discuss how they developed regional, industry-aligned partnerships to support their data integration efforts, sharing challenges and lessons learned along the way. The highlighted efforts are being developed as part of Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grants.
